I am curious

I have been seeing lately a lot of rules coming out about twitter. What not to do as a beginner and what to do. To me however I find those a bit useful and useless at the same time in the sense that yes there are tutorials to help but then in order for someone to be their true self on twitter they have to experiment. I never really read any beginners guides when I started twitter I just observed people. I followed some and noticed what was going on. Then the right people followed back and I learned. Then I felt more freedom to actually spread my wings and show my personality on Twitter. Not that I am discrediting anyone, but  I only started to read the tutorials this week when they started twitting a lot of them.

I am very observant and after having followed @cheth, @mayhemstudios, @dollar5, @phaoloo, @jessenewhart, @Minervity and a whole list of others I sort of learned from them. @cheth tweeted this to the the #1 rule of Twitter is that there is no rules. As we continue to twitter and more tweople begin to join, then more and more people are going to start complaining about what should be done and shouldn’t be done. After having experienced #followfriday and the excitment of meeting new people is fun. Hold on…twitter is not a race. I do not care who really follows or who doesn’t and if they like what am tweeting. I hardly tweet about brushing my teeth or combing my hair. I mostly do retweets that is why today I made a decision to finally cut the ties with Facebook and Twitter. To my friends on Facebook I apologize for all those strange updates. :D

To me twitter is not a place just to gain follows so you could show yourself to the world, but I see it as a tool where I get a vast amount of info that I would not otherwise get on my own. Me? Too much searching…I mean I love Google but I can only have this much of it. So with all of those tutorials I have special folders for MySql, Photoshop, Twitter, CSS and XHtml. With those tutorials and the help of someone I consider a good friend @jerlyn I was able to built my little techy website from scratch even through trials and errors I think I did well. I had a few tutorials to look at and boy they were helpful. I won’t forget the inspirational words that @holymully would tweet, and the encouragement about me being a good soul.

Now to touch base on a situation that happened today that really had me wondering. Why are people so quick to scream RT piracy? Not everyone is on the same list and at time some people do read the same RSS feeds, putting that Google Reader to work. For someone to call me out that I did not mention them in a Retweet when their name was nowhere near the tweet I felt like that person went out of their way. Twitter is a whole big world of info and there are times more than one person is going to tweet the same link. Maybe they should have a piracy service that will scan to see if it was already tweeted so that it will alert the tweeter. You know like Turnitin, we use that at Devry to detect plagiarism. I do take care of giving credit to whomever tweeted first so I am not really bothered.

What I get from tweeter is a vast amount of info, from those I follow, and I try to spread it. That is what Twitter is about. Sharing, and taking, and I give credit where credit is due. As @cheth said the #1 rule of Twitter is that there are no rules. We do however have to take others into consideration, because the tweople are humans. So guys read the tutorials but you could also learn hands on by observing the ones you follow. That could take you a long way in twitterdom ;)

My Addictions

I do not drink, I do not smoke, I do not take any drugs except those prescribed by my doctor. About October of ‘06 I became addicted to a game called second life. Played it almost 24/7 on my day off and then whenever I got home from work. After my friend died in RL (real life) I mellowed on the playing. Then my addiction subsided some so I was sober and normal. Nothing to worry about haha, I have to admit after SL I felt rather light and relaxed.

Then I saw the Treo haha, yes a Treo and I wanted my hands on it, man it was a neat phone. That’s when my fascination with gadgets began to rage. Once I dropped that itty bitty phone, it  was a LG flip phone, I never went back. I got a high from being able to do almost everything on my phone, I went to work and could check my email without having to use the work computer and I was able to send my faxes and view my Adobe files. I got the unlimited text plan and the unlimited internet plan from my carrier and boy I was loving it. My phone went with me everywhere, it is and will always be within my reach.

Then Facebook came my way, I had an account for a few months but I never bothered with it. Then I decided to explore the world of social networking after I read an article on MSNBC. I read about twitter and all of those addictive sites out there. Now I admit I am hooked on Facebook and I am hooked on Twitter. I have both a facebook application and Twitter application on my phone. So whenever I leave the house I have them at my fingertips. I am joining a new social networking site whenever I can. Maybe I get a high…I don’t know.

I do not really care, at least I am not doing drugs or  any of those other bad stuff. So there I admitted it, I am addicted to technology and I am addicted to social networking sites.Just meeting new people who share the same interests as me is exciting. Now that I have rss and podcast on my phone it will now start another evil trend, but hey, until the doctor says it is not good for me I am  not going to stop.

The old times

Well hello guys, its such a long day and what I am doing right now I am surfing through Facebook looking at friends pictures  and just playing this ridiculous game called Mafia  Wars. Wait it is not all that bad, its  just addictive. Before I get over the FB-crack, I am going to ask a few people from the class of  2001 and 2002 from the St. Andrews High School to please submit some ole time pictures. Man I am just reminiscing on the days at that school. The BEST school Ever!!!!

It would be fun to share old memories like the times in Science class with Ms. Francois and Chemistry with Mr. Berkel Williams and Physics with Mr. Telemaque. Remember English with Mrs. Fontaine, oh and Mathematics with Mr. Charles. Those were the days right. Do you remember when we used to have to clean up the classes and every time after we would go down to the river for a  big one pot. Man I could taste those lentils and dumplings. Oooo and final assembly when we all had to get our T-shirts with our class and all of our names on the back. Those were the days.

I remember the mornings we had to squeeze into the auditorium for morning assembly. And singing the hymns from the little blue book. Yes those were the days. Oh and the Belle Mache, to Portsmouth, Bense, Castle Bruce. I had only one bad experience in my first year and I blame my brother for that incident, which could have been avoided. Hey those were still fun days.

For those of us who walked to school, though I rode the bus to school, it was fun walking home, in the afternoon. Deanna, Jeana, Ernester, Belinda, Jeanella, and I the little click haha. Our science click haha, my name was VEHP(pron. VEP). Man its 8 yrs since we left that school to venture of into the world. Oh my remember those guava trees down by the river, haha I used to go run down the little track behind form 1-1 and to get some to eat. You know what made them good? All of that raw cow poop.

Remember when we started to wear ties with out uniforms, haha there were a few days I used to forget mine. I decided to get two just in case, because that meant a detention. Then their was the choir, oh man, we were sooooo good. ♫ Lift every voice and sing ♪ Man we used to practice almost every afternoon. It was worth it though because we were the best!!! Oh and the debates, man they were good, we had some great debaters, gosh winning was so Glorious.

I can still remember my 2001 science Class Clair-Ann, Kursha, Alfred, Deanna, Jeana, Ernester, Belinda, Jeanella, Marie- T, Sharon, Terry, Nicholas…there are so many I do not remember. Then the 2002 science class, Gerard, Konata, Nakita, Magalee, Nica… We were science geeks. Ms. Francois was the best Bio Teacher EVER!!!! I remember the science fair like it was yesterday when we spent hours at the last minute trying to get the undulated kettle done. Yes we won the National Science Fair and went on to get second place in the Regional Science Fair. Ok enough of that.

I will be setting up a group within Facebook for St. Andrews High School Class of 2001 and 2002 hope you guys come forward to make this a wonderful experience as our High School years were.
