January 20th, 2009 (YES WE DID IT)

My President, wow…this is a historic event that everyone has been looking forward too. “Oooo I can’t wait for the 20th to come”, have you ever heard  someone say that? Yes I have seen a lot of that lately. People are either anticipating what his speech would be like, or what The First Lady will be wearing for the Inauguration. This is one historic event that I will never forget as I have lived to see that day come. Yes, Martin Luther King’s dream continues.

My mother always told me that I could be whatever I wanted to be, however, not many of us had that same opportunity. There were many who lacked confidence in themselves and thought that they could not do anything with their life. Seeing Barack Obama entering the White House and being our President, has made a lot of them rethink their position on life. Americans are buzzing, they are feeling patriotic, a sense of togetherness. Did you see the “We are One” event, where just before Beyonce sang  America the Beautiful, this elderly man with his banjo and Bruce Springsteen sang “This land is my land?” It is our land. We are one!!!!

At 12:00 p.m. today he will be sworn in. He will take the oath to be the President of the United States of America! That is an occasion we cannot miss…I am so happy Governor Charlie Christ asked the schools statewide to allow the children to watch that event when the time comes. I am so proud that I could see this day, happy though I am not in the cold in D.C. That is too much, but I am still there.  I am so excited my hubby is excited, that today is finally here. YES WE DID IT!!!!!!!

Everyone feels like he [Obama] is supposed to start making our fears subside from day one and what some of us realize is that it takes all  of us to make it work. That is why he involved all of us in the election. This was our election, it is our Inauguration and this is our Government. Everyone around the world is watching us take that step towards a different world. There will still be racism, but now I hope people would look at it as ignorance, and look ahead. Today is a new day when we come together as One to see Our President take that step. To see him place his hands on the Lincoln Bible. To hear him say those words. My hubby and I have been watching from day 1 and we are so happy. He will be our 44th President, and First Black President…History.

My children will grow up knowing about this because my hubby will never stop talking about it for one…and it will be in the History books. Looking at the crowds  streaming into the mall. Wow. Today is the day……1/20/09 (January 20th, 2009). We made it!!!! Ooooo did you see the beast (the limo)? Happy Inauguration Day to all!

Teary Eyed

I was looking at the “We are One” concert at the Lincoln Memorial on HBO yesterday. Yes while I was writing my essay, which I completed before the deadline, with about 2 hours to spare. Back to the concert – so I started watching it about half – way through the concert, which was AWESOME!!! It brought tears to my eyes seeing all those people in the cold, seeing the celebrities sing, and all of it was FREE to the public.

So why is it that people are “bitchin” about it? I was reading Huffington Post (My favorite site since the elections). The Audacity of the Presidential Inauguration Committee: or This Land is Whose Land?  They are complaining that they could not see it on HBO. They are complaining because it was not on all the news channels, they are complaining about everything that they could think off including HBO did not put the name of a men’s gay choir, which I should say they never did for any of the other choirs. Gosh people are really hard to satisfy.

N-e-ways, I am not even worried about the silly complaints. Let’s talk about the concert, Bono was great!! Don’t talk about Garth Brooks he had me clapping he really raised the crowd. It was just so good to see people come together as one. Bono though seemed infatuated with Obama as my hubby is lol! Yes I said it he is head over heels with Obama, he keeps on talking about that man so much, I feel jealous at times. Hey secretly I think of Obama as my baby daddy (Just a joke!) I do not want any FBI agents coming to my house looking for me.  Haha :P

I wish I could have   gone to D.C to see the event…pardon me Historic event that is happening tomorrow. I am putting the DVR to record the show, thanks to Dish I won’t have to interrupt any of my shows that are already lined up. I am going to put it on a DVD so that my hubby could watch it over and over again. Maybe he will be crying tomorrow haha, he was always rooting for Obama from the time he came out in 2007 saying that he was running for the presidency. Then I could not get him to shut up about that man.

Hopefully we can all come together to get this nation out of the crisis that its in right now. We put our differences aside and look for a common good that will help all of us. We are all hurting even though it might be tiny, it is all an effect. I just hope that after tomorrow we could get on track and start moving forward. Thank God the 20th is tomorrow. Wow they need to look into shorten the time they take to get the New President into office sooner after elections.  Ok so I am blabbling. Going to watch a recording.
