Oh yeah after getting my head chewed off for posting to my Facebook too much I had to stop it. Not everyone is into getting loaded with information. Seesmic is awesome!!

The main purpose of retweeting is as you say Vandy, to share information with your followers. Most people on any social network fall into many sets but just because you can see a post doesn’t mean that your network can. The caveat is indeed to share what you feel will have value to your followers, but that is true of anything you post.

As to updating Facebook, most of the better Twitter clients like, Seesmic and Tweetdeck allow you to select where your post goes. I probably post 20% of my twitter posts on Facebook using this method. Posting everything I tweet to FB seemed to create a culture clash.

I use an a facebook app called “Selective Twitter updates” http://www.facebook.com/apps/application.php?id=115463795461adn
It is fab! because u dont really wanna send every tweet and Rt to facebook, so only tweets with a hashtag #fb get posted to facebook. Its been created by twitter.com/andyy

About the above post, i got rt’ed today after a long long time and hell yeah it feels good!

A nice post. Twitter is so huge and some nice information can be buried if it is not moved up. Retweet does exactly that!! It can be compared to digging or giving a thumbs up to your favorite news items.

Ok let’s say for example I found a link about some great Photoshop tutorials and I wanted other people to know about it, I would tweet it out. Your friend however is not on my list and is very interested in learning more about Photoshop you in turn retweet it and they can see it. So retweeting is taking info from one friend and letting another friend see it. It could be done many times a day, it could be annoying too. As Phaoloo said it is best to retweet informative tweets that are useful or else you would be seen as a spammer.
