It’s been almost a year since I’ve had my Macbook Pro and I have to say that I do not regret this purchase. I decided to start looking into one after I got really curious about the OSX operating system and I took the plunge. Learning the system was not too hard and it did not take long to get this baby the way I wanted it.
I normally post the way I use my devices and so this time around it is my 13” Macbook Pro 2012.
These are the specs for my Macbook Pro:
This machine is not only fast but I can do different things with it. I can run my windows software on this device with ease and no worries of it slowing down. I love parallels because of the coherence ability, I can run my windows apps on Mac natively. It feels natural and doesn’t feel like I am running a VM on my mac.
For my browsing need I do not use the Safari browser which was shipped with my device. Don’t get my wrong, there is nothing wrong with Safari, I just prefer Chrome as I can use it on my phone, my computer at work and my mac saving books Mac. The syncing ability of Chrome is one of my favorite features I do not have to worry about losing a website. My tabs are synced and that is awesome!
CleanMyMac 2 is a lifesaver! I love this app why? Because it cleans my Mac! I love how it was able to find 40GB of space that was being used for trash and temporary internet files. This is a really handy app and I am happy I got it on sale from Macheist.com. After cleaning my Mac with this app I could see an improvement in the performance.
You know that Spotify had to be in there somewhere! I love Spotify and being able to listen to it on my Mac is a plus. When I get home I would just plug my headphones and have some relaxing time listening to music. I hardly use iTunes as I only stream music.
Since Google decided that they do not need Google Reader I decided to find something to fill that void before July 1st. Reeder is smooth, light and simple to use. I can save posts for later and I can save them in Pocket.
Formerly Read it Later, Pocket has taken the place as my full time article saver for later. I have the extension in Google Chrome and I am able to save articles quickly with no issues. I can retrieve them with my Mac app refreshing my memory on something I read earlier.
I have all of my accounts and their passwords saved using MSecure. I love the ability to copy and paste the password into the required field. Maybe there are still some features that I am missing from MSecure but I will learn as I go.
For my Office needs I use Office 2011. I have the same features as it’s windows counterpart. I can open my office documents with ease. I have no worries of incompatibility issues.
For the times I use iTunes I use TuneUp to clean up my music to make sure that I have the correct data. There is nothing better than having a clean music library with all of the images and the titles correct. I also got this on sale from Macheist.com.
For my touchup needs there is photoshop. This is a much needed app for me as I take a lot of pictures. I am in no way a professional at this…only amateur work at this point.
I know that there are other apps out there but for some odd reason my preference is Trillian. I can use it on my mac, my phone and my work computer and all the conversations are synced up. It is fast, lightweight and it serves it purpose, though I might try some other app soon.
Netgear USB Control Center:
That is a mouthful right? Since I have an older printer my Netgear router serves as a printer server therefore allowing this old printer to become a wireless printer. This is great as I can print from any computer in the house including my Mac. This is a great little tool.
