I unsubscribed from the Obama Campaign website and signed up for White House updates. Its 3 days since he has been in office and he is making major changes to Bush’s policies. He is actually working. You could visit the site - Welcome to the White House. It is very much like his campaign website and that is the fun of it. Well let’s see what the first 100 days bring. People are waiting to see what else he is going to do.
Ah well going to bed now.
“My country,' tis of thee,
sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing;
land where my fathers died,
land of the pilgrims' pride,
from every mountainside let freedom ring!”
Samuel F. Smith, 1808-1895
Aretha Franklin sang this song beautifully. Let freedom ring. Tears ran down face as I watched our President walk through the door unto the platform. Seeing him so proud and standing tall, my chest grows with pride. This is our Country. To see all those people gathering in one place to see this moment in History is such a wonderful feeling. I am proud of America. God Bless America!!!!
Most important though, is his speech Obama reached out to everyone, from the Muslims to the people who are poor. He is a man who could work wonders with our help. He calls for us to work together, he spoke about reaching a hand out to our enemies and saying that if they unclench their fist we will take it. Togetherness that is what we saw today, be it on the Television or on the internet or at the National Mall. That is what we were today. To see Americans all in a frenzy and working as one makes one see that there is really change in the air. He said that things are bad and it will take a while to get better. I am happy he said that it will not happen overnight so people will quit complaining.
Wow it is good to see the Bushes out but seeing President Obama has a much better feel for me. He said it again in his speech “We will defeat you.” This is for my sons and my husband, and all Americans out there. To those of us who voted for Obama, we did it!!! To those who did not, its time to climb aboard this train, and make this work!!! Wow I am still in awe that this has all come true today. I love you baby we went through this ride from the beginning and we watched it all come to the White House.
God Bless America!!!
“Our fathers' God, to thee,
author of liberty, to thee we sing;
long may our land be bright
with freedom's holy light;
protect us by thy might, great God, our King.”
Samuel F. Smith, 1808-1895
My President, wow…this is a historic event that everyone has been looking forward too. “Oooo I can’t wait for the 20th to come”, have you ever heard someone say that? Yes I have seen a lot of that lately. People are either anticipating what his speech would be like, or what The First Lady will be wearing for the Inauguration. This is one historic event that I will never forget as I have lived to see that day come. Yes, Martin Luther King’s dream continues.
My mother always told me that I could be whatever I wanted to be, however, not many of us had that same opportunity. There were many who lacked confidence in themselves and thought that they could not do anything with their life. Seeing Barack Obama entering the White House and being our President, has made a lot of them rethink their position on life. Americans are buzzing, they are feeling patriotic, a sense of togetherness. Did you see the “We are One” event, where just before Beyonce sang America the Beautiful, this elderly man with his banjo and Bruce Springsteen sang “This land is my land?” It is our land. We are one!!!!
At 12:00 p.m. today he will be sworn in. He will take the oath to be the President of the United States of America! That is an occasion we cannot miss…I am so happy Governor Charlie Christ asked the schools statewide to allow the children to watch that event when the time comes. I am so proud that I could see this day, happy though I am not in the cold in D.C. That is too much, but I am still there. I am so excited my hubby is excited, that today is finally here. YES WE DID IT!!!!!!!
Everyone feels like he [Obama] is supposed to start making our fears subside from day one and what some of us realize is that it takes all of us to make it work. That is why he involved all of us in the election. This was our election, it is our Inauguration and this is our Government. Everyone around the world is watching us take that step towards a different world. There will still be racism, but now I hope people would look at it as ignorance, and look ahead. Today is a new day when we come together as One to see Our President take that step. To see him place his hands on the Lincoln Bible. To hear him say those words. My hubby and I have been watching from day 1 and we are so happy. He will be our 44th President, and First Black President…History.
My children will grow up knowing about this because my hubby will never stop talking about it for one…and it will be in the History books. Looking at the crowds streaming into the mall. Wow. Today is the day……1/20/09 (January 20th, 2009). We made it!!!! Ooooo did you see the beast (the limo)? Happy Inauguration Day to all!
I was looking at the “We are One” concert at the Lincoln Memorial on HBO yesterday. Yes while I was writing my essay, which I completed before the deadline, with about 2 hours to spare. Back to the concert – so I started watching it about half – way through the concert, which was AWESOME!!! It brought tears to my eyes seeing all those people in the cold, seeing the celebrities sing, and all of it was FREE to the public.
So why is it that people are “bitchin” about it? I was reading Huffington Post (My favorite site since the elections). The Audacity of the Presidential Inauguration Committee: or This Land is Whose Land? They are complaining that they could not see it on HBO. They are complaining because it was not on all the news channels, they are complaining about everything that they could think off including HBO did not put the name of a men’s gay choir, which I should say they never did for any of the other choirs. Gosh people are really hard to satisfy.
N-e-ways, I am not even worried about the silly complaints. Let’s talk about the concert, Bono was great!! Don’t talk about Garth Brooks he had me clapping he really raised the crowd. It was just so good to see people come together as one. Bono though seemed infatuated with Obama as my hubby is lol! Yes I said it he is head over heels with Obama, he keeps on talking about that man so much, I feel jealous at times. Hey secretly I think of Obama as my baby daddy (Just a joke!) I do not want any FBI agents coming to my house looking for me. Haha
I wish I could have gone to D.C to see the event…pardon me Historic event that is happening tomorrow. I am putting the DVR to record the show, thanks to Dish I won’t have to interrupt any of my shows that are already lined up. I am going to put it on a DVD so that my hubby could watch it over and over again. Maybe he will be crying tomorrow haha, he was always rooting for Obama from the time he came out in 2007 saying that he was running for the presidency. Then I could not get him to shut up about that man.
Hopefully we can all come together to get this nation out of the crisis that its in right now. We put our differences aside and look for a common good that will help all of us. We are all hurting even though it might be tiny, it is all an effect. I just hope that after tomorrow we could get on track and start moving forward. Thank God the 20th is tomorrow. Wow they need to look into shorten the time they take to get the New President into office sooner after elections. Ok so I am blabbling. Going to watch a recording.
I watched the debate last night, and boy I am so proud of Obama the way he handled himself, and his calm demeanor. Gosh he is amazing. I am so proud to see that we as Americans are finally realizing that we need to have some change. There are however, some people who are just trying to get to be President, and they do not care about the economy but their own personal gain. I watched as McCain acted like a little child, rolling his eyes, smirking and breathing hard, when he could not get his way, that is, at making Obama angry. I loved what Obama said today, do not get all cocky, and such, because you never know what could happen, especially with all of the dishonesty and slandering and all of the mud slinging that is happening. He is right, it is less than 3 weeks to the November 4th election and you never know what the RNC could do just to get into the White House. I just hope that Americans are not stupid enough to vote someone who is on the verge of suffering from old people sickness. Looking at him last night was evident at how he will be reacting to certain things its just like how my great grandma used to do. Then to tell me that he chose a damn idiot of a woman to run as his VP was even more insulting. He thinks that Americans are stupid that we do not know what we are about, that we will vote anyone to be president.
N-e-ways enough of that, I am just venting a bit. I work tomorrow it was a great 2 days at home, I did some chores around the house and ran some other errands that I wanted to do for some time now. I decided to cut my hair the day before and I think I like it some. Hehe I look cute. I think I am going to keep it that way, hey less stuff to do to it and more time to get ready for work, that is the lazy talk right there. I have been getting better, I just have a stuffy nose and that is all for now I am not feeling as bad as I was the last few days. Just so sleepy now. Ok I am going to drop the boys to their grandma’s house because tomorrow Kareem’s school is having teacher planning day. Ah well talk to you guys later.
