My Love: Windows 7

OK so I have a lot of loves, I admit it! Here is an update on my experience with Windows 7.

The Aero Peek Windows Feature:

The Peek feature is so handy I had to get it installed on my desktop which uses Vista. Most of the applications once pinned to the taskbar already have the option for peek at then application. If there are multiple windows you could hover your mouse over and a larger window will pop up. To view your desktop or just to get a peak at it hover over the see desktop area down in the right hand corner.

While we are using this picture lets talk about the Devices and Printers Option. For every peripheral that you add to Windows 7 it groups them. So you have your mini device manager within a click without having to go to the control panel then device manager. If there is a problem with the device there will be a warning sign next to it.

The Jump List:

Quite a few of the apps are now getting into the jump list phase which is awesome. Right click on an app that you are using in the taskbar and you have a list that will pop up. It is quite useful in the sense that you do not have to open the search bar to search for a document. It is all right there in that little window reducing the need for other windows.

The Action Center, Network and Sharing Center and Notification Icons Area:

The action center is ok but it sometimes annoy me so much that I want to slap my computer…(no violence). It does come in handy and it looks much better than the one in Vista. Right now I do not have any warnings as I took care of them and told it to shut up.

The Network and sharing center looks much better too I should say. It would show a pop up that actually shows you all of the connections that are being detected at the moment. For a detailed view of your network and the connection use the network and sharing center. I do not use the home group since I already use a complicated network setting using my Linux server. By the way networking meaning the sharing of printers and files is very easy to set up using Windows 7.

Icons Notification Area…finally, no more  icons all along the taskbar when you are looking for an idle program. You also have the option to even add and remove which icons you want to show and which notifications you would like to see. Very convenient and well organized. Bravo!!

The Taskbar:

I am still fascinated with it. I tell you…I tell you!!!. That was an awesome move by Microsoft to actually implement this. I have little or no need for icons on my desktop and this makes it easier as it. It means and cries out organization!!! All of my most frequently used apps are pinned in the taskbar.

Overall it is awesome! The extra shortcuts makes life easier!!! Love it!!

Race for the cure

My friend Jerlyn Thomas owner of Design Lady NYC is racing for the cure for breast cancer. Its a 5k walk or run event that will take place on Sunday September 13th 2009 at Central Park New York. Your family may not have experienced the lost of a female due to breast cancer, but there are others who have. The best way to help others and even those in your family is to donate towards the research being done. We need a cure for this disease, so many of our women are succumbing to it. Running or donating to this event will be a win-win for you, the organization and the women who they help. Oh and it is also tax deductible so another win for everyone!!!

Well This Is Embarrassing…

image

This is the 4th time this week Firefox is showing this…this…embarrassing message.

Dear Firefox,

I love you a lot but this is so wack, I cannot even express my disappointment. So why do I have to get this kind of error every time you crash? What happened to you? I really rooted for you as one of the best browsers. I hate having to cheat on you after I left Internet Explorer  for you. Man that is hard having to look at Google Chrome right now. You keep on messing up however, and it is getting on my nerves.

Google Chrome is not as muscular as you are. He is still missing a few things, but at least he doesn’t crash on me and he is consistent. That is what I need from you, you stopped giving it after you got those botox injections. It would seem like as if  it took something away from you. You are not the Firefox I have grown to love. It hurts my conscience to see Google Chrome serving me while you are lapsing. What happened?

We could do some therapy you know, maybe go back to the drawing board to get this sorted I mean I do not believe in leaving a good browser for a weaker browser but you are leaving me no choice. Please clean up your act and maybe we could get things back the way they used to. I promise I will uninstall Google Chrome and make sure that you are the only one serving my needs. First work on cleaning up your act.

Sincerely Yours,

Passionsista
